Because of the “scheme” I have: •lost 30+ pounds. •quit my FT job + now work my coaching business FROM HOME. •made the best friends I could ever imagine. •helped over 70 woman lose weight + LIVE THEMSELVES. •given the woman on my team financial freedom. •4 trips this year that I am attending - 3 of which are fully paid for. •found my IBS trigger foods. •gotten out of depression. Most importantly finally love myself + treat my body with the respect it deserves. That part makes me emotional. Every day I wake up EXCITED to BE ME. So, think what you want, but this “scheme” is SO real to me.

One thing I love about not being in depression is not needing so many naps. I was seriously taking 2-3 naps a day. Now my husband and baby are napping away and I'm busy doing hair and makeup, recording and editing YouTube videos, and making social media posts. A few days ago I posted a picture of what I felt was a good depiction of the face of depression. This👆is also the face of depression. You see, there are days when I JUST CAN'T DO IT. There are days when I can put one foot in front of the other, barely. There are also days that I absolutely ROCK it! People say to me all the time, "I don't know how you do it all". I stay busy for my own mental health. My brain works against me if it sits idle so I just don't let it sit idle. I do it because I REFUSE to give up. I say this to point out that depression can be crippling but it can also be manageable. With medication and/or therapy you can still live your very best life. There are days that you won't want to go on and there are days you will knock it out of the park. Both days are hard in their own way! I implore you, though...Keep Fighting! Enough.  # So many of you are trying to measure up to this invisible standard of grace you believe society has set for you.  # Don’t mistake what I’m saying here –  # Personal development is great. Keep working on those goals, keep bettering yourself.  # However, it’s hard to see any long-term success if you don’t value yourself as you currently are.  # Your friends, your family, your partner – they’re in your life because they love you for you.  # So value yourself for who you are and how you are right now: -  Transition out of toxic relationships -  Make sure you’re not the toxic element in your relationships -  Don’t be afraid to ask for help. -  Don’t keep people in your life if the relationship isn’t reciprocal.  # 💖 Sarah  # P.S. If you think your current relationship is toxic, it’s okay to re-evaluate it. We only go around this beautiful, blue marble once. It isn’t worth being saddled with 200 lbs. of dead weight. did you know that certain characteristics run in families but not every inherited trait is as harmless as hair color? that some families often struggle with a darker legacy: depression. — depression is something that can stem from many things but importantly, people with parents or siblings who have depression are up to three times more likely to have the condition. this is due to either heredity or environmental factors because they both have a strong influence on a person. — I am one member out of the thousands of families that suffer from depression. I have struggled with depression since I was 15 and let me be honest, it hasn’t always been easy. I don’t always have my crap together, some days I struggle more than the next which is why I sometimes go without posting. >> a little story: back in december 2018, my family and I found out that my grands has dementia, ever since she has had some issues so she has been hospitalized for over an month. grands was recently moved to a different county hospital for other issues and I’m going through a depression over the entire thing. I just needed a few days offline, I do this with social media because it’s about the healthiest way I know to soothe myself without shutting down.

Self care comes in many forms. Depression is real. When most people hear the word depressed they think it just means you’re really really sad. That’s not the case. Most people who are depressed you wouldn’t even have guessed they were. I struggle with seasonal depression. Yes, there are triggers that can cause my depression to occur but once I’m triggered it really just takes getting through it to get through it. Waiting for the storm to pass so to speak. I’ve tried several medications to help but I never truly felt like myself through the process. I’ve been struggling lately and I’ve just been focusing on taking care of myself until the storm passes. Along side of working out and eating healthier, this is one of the steps I’m taking in self-care. I’m full of shit. Look everyone, I’m a writer! (even though I haven’t sold any essays yet this year). I’m moving to LA to be a TV writer and awesome at it! (but I can’t actually get a regular job until I sell enough essays to buy a car). I have a list of good, viable outlines for essays, spec scripts and pilots - I’m creative AF! (But my brain now has its arms crossed and is refusing to wrangle its neurotransmitters into productive, tear-free work, because bipolar). I didn’t feel like this 2 days ago. No, this mood is brought to you by stress, mid-level depression, and a series of debilitating anxiety attacks. I’ve been faking it for years, and I’m getting tired. Do I need mushrooms? Ketamine? ECT? VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY Vitamin D is a vitamin & a hormone. After it is consumed in the diet or absorbed (synthesized) in the skin, vitamin D is then transported to the liver & kidneys where it is converted to its active hormone form. In addition to its role in calcium absorption, vitamin D activates genes that regulate the immune system and release neurotransmitters (e.g., dopamine, serotonin) that affect brain function and development. Researchers have found vitamin D receptors on a handful of cells located in regions in the brain-the same regions that are linked with depression. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a mood disorder featuring depressive symptoms, occurs during the dark times of the year when there is relatively little sunshine, coinciding with the sudden drop in vitamin D levels in the body. Several studies have suggested that the symptoms of SAD may be due to changing levels of vitamin D3, which may affect serotonin levels in the brain. Although vitamin D supplementation may improve mood, vitamin D is only a small, but critical, part of treatment as depression has many causes.
