Not going to lie when I jumped on the scale this morning I had a mini heart attack. The bedrest this week has been brutal for my weight gain 😬 I am up 3.5 pounds now in my first trimester and definitely feeling super fluffy! But after my panic subsided I had to remind myself that I was able to do it at 39 so I will be able to bounce back again at 40. The picture on the right was 2 months postpartum from my pregnancy with Magnolia. I battled gestational diabetes and what at the time seemed like insurmountable struggles for the 40 weeks. Now that I am facing a new high risk pregnancy with already far more complications I am trying to keep my mind on the possibility and potential I once created when I dropped more than 70lbs following my last pregnancy. The picture on the left was just 8 weeks ago at my ideal weight. I know I can do it because I have done it before. Me and beezy have been working on his independence the last few months. Mainly things like getting dressed on his own, picking up after himself, getting his own snacks, etc. It’s hard. Not because he can’t do it - but because anytime he struggles with anything I want to step in and help. That’s one of the hardest parts of motherhood. Not the greatest workout as growing baby thinks it’s funny to use my bladder as a makeshift moon bounce house. A lil snippet of my workout today! I did #plyofix from #21dayfixextreme ! Holy sweat fest. So much jump training, my legs feel like jello. ☠️ And it was only 30 minutes long (including warm up and cool down!)! Who doesn’t have 30 minutes to work out??? . I had a conversation through text with my brother this morning. He felt like I would be struggling with the recent devastating loss in our small town (as it’s how my Jake left this earth too), and he wanted to check on me. It meant a lot to be so honest. And as I’ve shared about this in the past couple of days, I hope you’ll funnel your prayers to the family of this loss, to his wife, his 2 little boys, and more. God put so many ridiculously amazing people in my life through the days and months after Jake passed...people who spoke such LIFE, TRUTH, & HOPE back into me. And through their stories of making it, I started to believe I could and would too. I literally leaned on their belief for awhile until I had rebuilt my own. . . I want to share a few things I wrote my brother after he asked how I was doing in hopes that this puts things in perspective for anyone who needs some truth to cling to. _____________________________________________________________ His Word is such a gift even when we feel He’s left us. Because He shoots it straight. We will have trouble...John 16:33...but He’s overcome it all. And He’s actively working to SAVE us when we’re crushed in spirit...Psalm 34:18. _ These 2 verses carry me on the daily! _ They bring me back to truth. 1. It’s gonna be hard 2. He’s gonna save me in the hard ______________________________________________________________ I so encourage you to find some WORD you literally imprint on your brain and engrave in your heart. WORD that will set you up for reality, for progress, for life. Take these if you need them! . . 18 weeks already! I am L ❤️ V I N G the second trimester! So much better than the first! ⠀ ⠀ 1️⃣ Energy is back to normal.⠀ 2️⃣ No more cravings. ⠀ 3️⃣ Heartbeat doesn't race through the roof after 2 air squats 😂⠀ 4️⃣ I am starting to modify a few movements - Sit ups are now russian twists. Burpees are doable but my chest a little more elevated. Lying and sleeping completely on my stomach isn't happening. I sleep on my side and stick with movements that keep me on my knees. Yesterday I bench pressed with my feet elevated instead of on the floor. Seemed to work really well for me. Jump ropes, box jumps, rowing, dumbbells, barbell, bikes - all fair game!! Yahoo!! It’s all about maintaining that strength 💪🏽 ⠀ 5️⃣ So far hanging from both the rings and bar feels great! I can tell my hollow and arch isn't the same so I'll be subbing toes to bar and ring and bar muscle ups and maybe even chest to bar pull ups for something different soon. I look forward to getting creative with scaling options soon! I'll definitely keep you posted when that starts to happen! 👍🏽 ⠀ In other news, got to hear my little (🥬 wrapped) tortilla's heart beat again yesterday 🥰 A steady 148 bpm. I felt my first punch followed by some tiny beats over the weekend (holy W👼🏼W a true miracle! ✨)⠀ I'm officially up 5 pounds since my very first weigh in. I also weigh more than my hubs HAHA #pr !!! 🛎💪🏽😁 My waist is up 1/4" = 31.75. My breasts are doing some sudden motherly things too 🤗 Just this morning I added oatmeal to my usual breakfast to help aid in milk supply. Not only did my friends suggest it but so did my Doctor. I haven't had oatmeal for awhile so it was a nice little treat for sure! 🤰🏽 ⠀ Still taking lots of vitamins every morning: fish oil, calcium, prenatal, magnesium, vitamin D, and juice plus. Eating lots of fruits and veggies, drinking a butt load of water. I am so thirsty - all. the. time 🐳 ⠀ All for now! Thanks to all the women who reach out to me letting me know how helpful my posts are. That really means a lot to me.😍

Pregnancy is definitely a surreal time in a woman’s life when the only constant seems to be change. Not only is the body experiencing lots of changes in a very short period of time, but the realization that life will never be the same starts to set in as well. It’s beautiful, amazing, and scary AF all at the same time! Sharing information or answering questions for those who seek knowledge can be so helpful and make the unknown less scary to new moms. However, I think it is truly important to not push opinions or your personal experiences onto others. Each and every woman, couple, and family has different wishes for their experience of bringing a new life into this world. No story will be the same, no story is right or wrong, no story will ever be relived the same way even for the same mom as each child is different. With 5 weeks left to go, I just thought this was important to share. I don’t think people’s advice comes from a bad place or is meant to be hurtful in anyway. I actually think it’s just the opposite. There is so much excitement and passion which is why certain beliefs comes off so strong. To be completely honest, I have been ridiculously worried about weight gain this pregnancy. (I have legit been having dreams about birthing a giant baby and it terrifies me!) I think it may be the fact that this is my 4th and final pregnancy, the weight has never just melted off after I had my other kids, I wasn’t anywhere near the weight I wanted to be before I got pregnant again, and these damn pregnancy hormones really get me! So in an effort to remain healthy, happy and to give my the energy I need to chase around 3 other littles I decided to join in on the @expectingandempowered Self Love Challenge! Now that I’m into my second trimester and feeling better, I’m so excited to get into a normal workout routine again! Here’s to taking care of ME and my little 💙!

🔥WORKOUT WEDNESDAY🔥 We take a break from all my baby posts to bring you a workout!!!! This week’s workout is a way to switch up your traditional reps and really feel the burn!! Plus, it will hit all parts of your shoulder and finish off with core! While this was a good way to change it up while I was pregnant, this is great for ANYONE. Pregnant ladies, feel free to perform the core moves from your knees or elevate your hands on a bench and do at an angle. Never have I been tied to the passage of time in a weekly format as I am now. I was always a tiny bit annoyed when I used to ask women how pregnant they were and they responded using weeks. Anything over 8 to 10 and I feel like never-been-pregnant people are usually like NO ONE TALKS LIKE THAT PLS USE MONTHS ok or maybe it was just me because math is hard? —— Obviously I use weeks too and don’t even know the right months to translate it to. —— Until now. Now I can basically say 9 months and be accurate and also scare people at the same time. Though anyone who asks lately is typically leading their question with a very enthusiastic “you’re about to pop!” and I wanna be like yeah, about to pop you in the throat, get out my face. —— Anyway. 38 weeks = I could give birth at any moment. Or not. I am probably crying, about something or nothing. I am eating lots of tootsie rolls for some reason. The only exercise I still do is squats and walking to + from any and all bathrooms. And I still can’t really fathom that baby will be outside and not inside. This baby of mine is so precious. Her chill is a gift from God. It’s amazing how different each child is - and literally they are born with these personality traits. Junebug is filled with a few extra cups of sweetness. She has her feisty moments, especially with her older sister. But when it’s just her out and about, she’s so easy!! It makes me think how: - Time goes by fast - We need to spend special time with each kiddo - 2nd Children might need a few extra hugs - We are blessed ....... ❤️❤️❤️ Seriously going to start implementing one on one dates with our kiddos. They need our attention to themselves sometimes. Even though we just went to the doctor together for her 2 year checkup, she was SO excited to be getting the special mommy attention. This is us. One sick toddler (again!! ☠️), one baby who was up pretty much all night and a mama who’s running off 2 hours sleep. I’m sure my cortisol levels are through the roof. Y’all. I made my first batch of homemade bone broth this past weekend. It came out so good!!! This chilly winter weather is all the reason to whip up some bone broth. Especially this recipe I nailed from one of my favorite restaurants in Austin. Bone broth has a ton of collagen, lubricates the joints and is packed with a ton of nutrients! 🥥 Coconut curry bone broth: 1.5 cups hot bone broth 1/4 cup coconut milk 1 tbsp lime juice 1 tsp pink salt 1/2 tsp curry powder Sprinkle of pepper Combine all ingredients into a blender and blend well. Serve hot!

"Pre-Pregnancy vs. #27weeks Pregnant! Now in my 3rd trimester, it's been a journey of a lot of good days and some bad ones. Fighting morning sickness, extreme exhaustion, and the temptation of unhealthy foods. There are days where I don't want to workout, feel unmotivated, and have the urge to eat that slice of pizza/chocolate cake/ice cream/etc. To accomplish this, I make healthier versions of the unhealthy foods, make time to meal prep for the week, go to the gym to maintain my fitness, and have a strong support system. I feel very accomplished that I made the choice to continue with living a healthy lifestyle even through pregnancy. 3 more months to go! We're very excited to meet our little darling. I normally write as if I’m writing to women. But I have a little something to say to the guys and fathers out there. . I’m getting on a plane to head to a four day all expenses paid retreat with my team—God bless my amazing mentor. 😭 I wasn’t sure if I could physically swing this but this man said, “GO!! Use our points. I’ll figure out the babes.” I’m sure he inside wasnt exactly thrilled but he committed to taking on these dudes by himself for the week. . I can’t put into words how grateful I am for this man. This week is a super special opportunity for me to relax and recharge and he didn’t question it whatsoever. He is my biggest fan. My biggest support. He believes in me when I don’t. He encourages me to be better, do hard things and be brave. He inspires my confidence. He is always in for a hug and is with me when I have ugly mom moments—he is gracious and the biggest servant I know. . Working on knees valgus with single leg movements! We attach a band to a squat rack, and then have the force of the band pulling inwards (same direction as the knee has a tendency to move) to help retrain the single leg stabilizers to keep the leg aligned!

Had my 16 week checkup yesterday. First question I asked was can I start working out again yet???! Aaaaand . . . The answer was no 😒 BUT! I was given a timeline. My OBGYN said that if my 20 week ultrasound on February 12th looks good, and the baby looks good and there’s no remaining pockets of blood, then I can get back to normal activity! Stationary bike I’m coming for you . . But in the meantime, it’s some relaxing prenatal yoga in my big baggy sweatshirt this morning, followed by some cleaning and laundry. #yoga #16weekspregnant

Ah home gym how I’ve missed you, I hope I can get back to you soon 😭 . . I HATE working out in public gyms. So many people. No machines available, not enough space, have to drive there and back and by the Time that happens I’ve lost all motivation (especially since my husband and I live in the country and the closest gym is probably at least a half hour from us). So home gyms and workouts are for me! This is the current setup we have . . Upstairs we have this room that has 2 exercise bikes and some steps, Bosu balls and resistance bands. I like working out in here because it’s nice and bright, however once the baby arrives, this will be turned into another guest room and the exercise equipment will go into the basement with the rest of our equipment . . This ones primarily been used by Andrew since I haven’t been able to lift a lot of weights due to my neck surgeries but my goal is to get back there one day soon! I even got him a squat rack for Christmas 🤓 the basement also holds my indoor softball pitching area for my students . . Do you like working out at home or in a gym? #homegym

I haven’t been sharing as much because, well, I’ve been eating the same thing over and over. I found a really balanced way to get the protein and fats I need, so I’m sticking with it, with a few alternatives here and there. I try to be mindful of food combining. So I make sure to eat the berries first and try waiting a bit. They are digested quicker and you don’t want to put a quick digested food behind a slow one otherwise. Today was my first day being able to workout, taking it easy, as I’m finally of pelvic rest! 570 cals 31g protein

Look at me still getting catching some air🙌🏻🤰🏻 No but in all honesty, I walked most of this workout 😆 I can NOT see anything beyond the front of my belly-not my feet, not the street, even the front of the treadmill surprises me!! So running is pretty much a NO-GO from here on out☹️ But, I will continue to walk and elliptical and be active and hope for the best🤷🏻‍♀️ I actually have gained the most weight from all of my pregnancies despite being the most active. My doctor says it could be my age, but also that I started off really trim and put on a bunch in the first trimester. I used to worry about having the perfect stomach...Crazy how now all I worry about is meeting my perfect baby!!😍. In my past was I quick to judge people? Possibly. But I was young. Without any experience of the world. But the person I am today is so far removed from that person quick to judge. To jump to assumptions. The person I am today is more interested in peoples minds, their values, virtues, morals and learning their story. The person I am today is open minded, and receptive to all and everyones uniqueness which makes them special. The person I am today, understands that judging others is only a reflection on insecurities of self and others opinions of you. Because of this I have so much more love to give. I am as light as a feather because I am not being weighed down by the negative energy of judgement. I am happier and more energetic. If you catch yourself judging someone, step back, stop and remember that by judging others it is a reflection on you. Your insecurities. Its never too late to work on yourself and allow yourself to become more open minded and less judgemental 💜

{ coordination }⠀ ⠀ We focus so much on strengthening weak muscles and lengthening tight ones but what if I told you that often times the issues that we experience are due to a lack of coordination?⠀ ⠀ So try this out: Place a hand on your lower belly and cough. What did you feel in your hand? Did your belly flare out, pull in, do nothing? Take it one step further and see if you can feel anything in your pelvic floor when you cough. Does your pelvic floor bulge downwards or contract and rebound upwards? ⠀ ⠀ Go ahead, give it a shot...⠀ ⠀ Your pelvic floor and transverse abdominals are anticipatory muscles, meaning that they kick on in the anticipation of movement. ⠀ ⠀ When you move, cough, sneeze- these muscles are meant to engage pulling your abdomen in and pelvic floor up towards the crown of your head. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ So what do you feel in your body? I keep taking pictures of the bump because I know I’m going to miss it when it’s gone! Scottie is almost fully cooked and ready to make an entrance. I’m hoping it will go quickly and safely, (and might I stress quickly), because Epidurals aren’t really an option for me with the placement of my spinal fusion. Merry Christmas Eve!🎄Our baby is 17 weeks today! ⛄️ I’m still not really seeing much of a bump most days, but our baby is happy and healthy regardless ☺️ this week he is the size of a pomegranate! He’s developing teeth buds, hardening his bones, and putting fat on. 😍💕 I haven’t had any cravings, I’m a serious clutz, dropping things and running into things 🤦🏼‍♀️ between that and “pregnancy brain”....
