Feel Good Friday! 😃🏃🏼‍♀️ Yes, it took me forever, but I did get my marathon race photos! These three are from the end of the race...literally all downhill! And let me tell you, after 26 miles, downhill is rough! I just kept thinking, “Don’t fall. Please don’t fall!” 😂😂 Seeing these brings back ALL the feels! I ran a freaking marathon! And as a few friends have pointed out to me, I did most of my training by myself and I ran more than half of it by myself. Some frustrated tears were shed, some cuss words thrown down. I’m happy to have support from some amazing people to push me through some tough miles, walking this journey with me. Sweaty post-gym selfie. (Definitely not bold enough for a real gym selfie hahaha. I was self conscious enough taking a watch photo for stories. 😂) 5.5 treadmill miles at the Y. It’s super rainy today and after this year’s Boston, I pretty much don’t run in hard rain + cold unless there is a medal at the end of it. AMIRITE? Took it easy and then did my 20 second strides at the end. Pretty sure the retiree crowd was like WUT she doing she’s gonna break something!! But they felt really nice. Long run OUSSIDE tomorrow HOWBOWDAT? This caption is so weird, I’m done, bye!

And that's a wrap... Finished my last really long run for this training cycle.. two more Friday runs and then it's the marathon!!! Even more than the finish line itself, is the journey and process to getting there. In Hebrew the word for training is אימון - Imun, which stems from the word emunah, or trust. As part of training, we learn to #trusttheprocess and believe that we are ready... Even though we are setting ourselves up for a task that's bigger than anything we've ever done. We're going to run a distance that's longer than we ever have at a pace that's faster than we ever go.... And we have to believe in ourselves, the work we've done and of course the source of our strength, Hashem, to know that we CAN achieve our goal. Without this trust and belief, we'd never push ourselves and we'd never get anywhere. Sometimes it can be scary, sometimes it takes a leap of faith but every big accomplishment begins with the powerful belief that we are Capable, Strong and Ready to Achieve our greatest Dreams 😍 #shabbatshalom #runstrong #believe

I am in the trenches, guys, motherhood is not easy. 💆🏽‍♀️ I knew if I didn’t get up this morning (even though I rarely run in the am when sleep deprived) that I wouldn’t be able to be my best self. Sometimes sleep can’t win & thank goodness for the treadmill because winter and just NO thanks windy, wet & 30. 🥶 . So I turned on the new @netflix movie Dumplin’ with Jennifer Aniston and did a fun fartlek. Because anything with the word fart in it is fun & funny. 💨 . Friday Fartlek (60 minutes) -15 minute warmup -2 x 2 minutes hard, 1 minute easy -4 x 4 minutes hard, 2 minute easy -2 x 2 minutes hard, 1 minute easy -10 minute cooldown . Let me know if you try it! I talked to myself a lot during this race. In the beginning I begged myself to trust the process and slow down. During the middle miles I kept checking in with myself, asking, “Do you feel reckless? Or do you feel smart and strong?” Strong, okay. And during those last 4-5ish miles when I was DONE I reminded myself that even though my mind was screaming at me to stop and slow down, my body was strong and capable of greater things. . . . I’d be lying if I said the next 5-6 weeks of training didn’t intimidate me. It’s my last real chance to give this training cycle I’ll I’ve got. I have 19 miles planned for tomorrow and then 3 20 miler runs all in the 5 weeks following that. They are going to make me so strong and really get me ready for racing, so when that day comes, I’ll again, have no doubts that my body can do the work. Bring it on!

Bobby and I made Thursday nights our “no media night” so this is from last night! When Bobby gets home from work around 7:30 we cut off all TV, phones, and computers for time away from everything. When we first started a couple months ago we said it would be an only 2-hour time period so from 7:30-9:30pm but now it pretty much just lasts until we get to bed. It is SO refreshing, guys. We talk, we eat together with no distractions, we either do a puzzle or just play a board game, we tidy up, we plan our month/week, we spend time with Gunner, etc. It’s amazing. Anyway so that’s why I worked out yesterday evening and didn’t post it haha. —— I got in a one mile power walk with my crew before the sun went down and did a Yoga with Adrienne video. My right knee has been killing me (it’s so stiff all the time). All of my issues have always been on the right side: my right hip, my right knee, my right foot always has more cramps, etc. I think it’s all connected by now. Yoga with Adrienne has helped so much! I am still running every other day so it’s nice to have off days so often since I know my body is still healing. I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing this for the whole year postpartum. Having two kids 15 months apart is freaking rough but I’m determined to have my body come back stronger than ever.

2 MONTHS TO GO!! (cue crazy smile). Knocked out this weeks 5K for Week 31 at a steady walk...baby and body do NOT enjoy running or intense exertion anymore. That's OK 😀 . People told me baby starts to really grow after 30 weeks and they weren't kidding! Woah! I feel like there is an actual small baby in there (which I know is obvious, but the reality and feeling of it blows my mind). As I get bigger, slower, and more tired, I have three frames of mind that I cycle through: The Optimist: You're just going through another growth spurt which will level out or you'll get use to it and feel amazing and then a beautiful baby will pop out.🤗 . The Realist: These feelings and challenges will probably last until the end at this point, but you'll come to deal with them and you're getting so close! Your body is amazing and strong! 👍 . The Pessimist: You will be pregnant forever and always feel like you weigh a million pounds.👺 . **I think I'll settle with the realist perception!** . At 31 weeks, baby is now the size of a head of Romaine Lettuce and weighs around 3.5 lbs and 17" long. It's starting to getting tight in there for him, and I feel like he is pushing against every inch of my insides, ah! STROLLER RUN FTW! 💥 When dad’s working and pretty much everyone else is sick you go for some stroller miles with you PIC. Up until now I normally have done everything I can to avoid stroller runs. While I enjoy spending this sweet time with Lana running with this gigantic thing on wheels is SO difficult. What I found out today? Some nights I just need to get out and run. It helps to clear my mind, helps me relax, and gives me the chance to get away for a little while. . I love my two little boys, but life with them is not always smooth and easy. I had to leave work early twice in the last two days to take my son to the doctor. I also did a lot of waiting at the doctor’s office with two boys who did not want to sit still 😬🙄. Then I spent today with both of them and neither of them wanted to take a nap. . At the end of today, I was super tired. I knew that one of the only things that would help was running. So when Zach got home from work, I ran. I didn’t look at the time or distance, I just settled into a comfortable pace and ran until I was done. I felt so much better when I was done.

The sun literally never came up, started off in negative temperatures, falling snow , feet warmers , frozen eyelashes , quickly dead headphone batteries from the cold , and a phone that started at 100% yet died immediately after taking this single selfie at mile 5 of 10 thanks to the cold. A rare picture of me in shorts and a short sleeved shirt. I keep my house set at 63 in the winter so everyone bundles up because this mom is on a mission to save money!! 🥶😂 In workout news, I have 2 more days left before I restart this program and I’m happy to say I have to buy heavier weights! This second go-around I definitely need to focus on my water intake and proper fueling, especially since I’ll be slowly integrating running back into the mix. I hate winter and am too scared to run in the dark so I’ll be on my treadmill for most of my runs. I really wish Boston was later in the year so I could get more quality runs in outdoors. My quads were trashed last year because of a lack of hill training. I will definitely take the treadmill incline setting more seriously this time. I think I’m done rambling...

You know that feeling when you crush a run you thought was going to be terrible?? That’s how I feel right now!! Never count yourself out. I was on the struggle bus today but made myself get on the treadmill for my long interval workout. I wasn’t sure I’d finish, but I did! And I smoked those fast miles. 🔥 3 warm up miles @ 10:00/mile 1 mile 7:57/ mile 1 mile 7:49/mile 1 mile 7:45/mile 1.5 miles cool down 8 miles total including my recoveries.

Throwing it back to that time I ran a half marathon 8 months pregnant! After doing a full marathon the month before 😂😂 the Jerusalem half felt like a walk in the park. There is nothing like the energy and atmosphere in Jerusalem, where so many people come together to raise money for so many incredible organizations. I'm grateful every day to live in this special city but I feel especially blessed when we unite and come out and run together!! First ten mile run since my half marathon in February! 6 of the ten in rain, like real heavy rain, luckily the temps were perfect (61). The beginning of this run felt effortless, easy breezy. Coach wanted me to do last 20 min HMP, I struggled big time with that one. I didn’t hit those paces, and actually had to take a couple of walk breaks towards the end. But, 10 freaking miles. In the rain. Alone. I haven’t ran alone this whole training cycle. I am so proud of this. 3 years ago we took our engagement photos and to this day I love how silly most of our photos are. For those of you that know us know that we like to have fun and we definitely don't look put together even 50% of the time. We wore exactly what we would wear any other day and I didn't do anything special to look fancy for these. But that's 100% our lives. So fun to look back at these and how much fun we had even with it raining during our shoot.

Wanted some “long” miles today so shoved the double in the passenger seat and headed to base for an easy 8. My runs have been pretty lack luster lately since I’ve been stuck in the neighborhood so it was a nice change of scenery! Retest Week @_asapfit_ . . We actually did this same workout late September so fun to see our progress in the cluster and on this team workout 👯‍♀️ . My “why” for running has changed so drastically over the last few years that my focus has a tendency to gravitate towards the impossibility of perfectionism. We humans, are just not perfect and that is okay👌! Perfectionism is nothing but an intense fear of failure. Few things will abruptly halt the enjoyment of running like perfectionism will and running is a happy place for most of us. I’d like to keep it that way 🙂. • So in 2019 my priority in running and goal-setting will be to LET GO OF PERFECTION (cue Elsa from “Frozen” 🎶 ). Those super ambitious pace goals? The ones I have been afraid to write down on paper 🙈. I am going to come for them, because you know what will happen if I don’t make them? My plan called for 9 pace miles today, which I decided to modify because I didn’t want to push my body *that* hard since I am still recovering from my half marathon. After my 1 mile warm up I opted for 1/2 mile at pace followed by 1/2 mile at recovery and surprised myself that my overall average pace for all 9 miles was 8:13!! With only about 5 1/2 weeks of “work” left in this marathon training cycle things are getting real and I’m over here trying to embrace it all. . . . Time to shower up - I’m a field trip chaperone today! I had to giggle at this, last year when Adam chaperoned he got to go to the Butterfly Wonderland but today guess what I get to do? Play laser tag!! Hahaha

✨5 EZ morning miles. Other than being dark, it was perfect out! I replaced my cracked phone yesterday, so my watch wasn’t @strava ready this morning and I went at it blind. Without watching my pace, it still ended up being a decent progression run (splits in my story). Also, I am obsessed with my glowing top from @oiselle and feel safer while running in it at 5 AM! - Workout #7️⃣ of 21 to round out 2018 was a progression run finishing with strides (avg 9:17 min/mi). Baby Girl was up and waiting for me when I got home. A one mile run is always better than a no miles run right? 🤷🏻‍♀️🥴 The snooze button is my kryptonite. I will push that thing for hours. I hit it until the very last minute this morning, but I’m still grateful for this mile! I bumped the speed up gradually ending at an 8:00 pace. I’ll take it! Today was a test of both mental and physical fortitude. . Since my October marathon, my heart just hasn't been in it. I've doubted my ability to train for marathon #10. Life just seems so busy. My kids need me more than ever. ❤ Last week @2018bostonmarathon4dad posted about running Boston again for charity. His comment 'Running isn't everything, and it sure isn't worth risking everything for', is exactly what I've been feeling. . Today was a test to see if I can pull myself out of this 'funk' I am in. Each week my plan is to do a speedwork session from the training plan I will use IF I train for marathon #10 in the Spring. Official training won't start until January. . **Goal--8 x 400m (goal 1:35) with 200m recovery **Actual-- 200m went by REAL fast, so recovery was anywhere from 1:13 - 2:07 (all 200m, so lots of walking! 😂) ** 400m splits: 1:34 - 1:38 (6:22 - 6:34 pace) . So, how did I do? I'm going to give myself an A- for this test. Splits were near target and this was run outside on the road, which is different from the treadmill or track in my opinion. A little #wednesdaywisdom coming at ya tonight .... I’ve been in the post marathon funk 😒 I hate to admit it ... but it’s true!!! I’ve been trying to recover ... catch up on house work... prepare for Christmas, my littlest man turned 6 last week, and my first baby will turn 7 next month, not to mention getting Christmas ready, being the Elf and Santa 🎅 is exhausting! So it’s been very very little time left for ME. So today ... I took some Mommy time ... met up with my bestie @katjack29 for a run ... which we both didn’t feel like doing 🤷‍♀️ so instead we had coffee and the cutest little donuts! 🍩 @thedapperdoughnutwolfchase It was so good for the soul! Then I went back to my ole spin class tonight that I haven’t been to since marathon training began... beat my old record of miles and sweated out all the post marathon blues. It felt good to get out and run again tonight. I think this is the best that I’ve felt after a marathon and I’m sure it’s because my body’s gotten used to running the distance and because I didn’t push myself too hard. I’m still going to take it easy this week and next week, but I think I’ll be ready to really start training hard for Boston after that.

It took me most of the day to find the time and motivation for this cold run, but once I got out there I had fun! My December goals are to run consistently and increase my speed - this run checked both boxes! I think it’s really going to benefit me to be able to train at faster paces with quicker turnover since I don’t have to push a stroller on all of my runs anymore. This funny thing happened a few hours after my run on Saturday. I was walking through my kitchen and BAM! Shooting pain in my right Achilles. It left me limping & using four-letter words I try not to use in-front of my children. Luckily I’m married to a physical therapist so after some at-home rehab, the pain is completely gone and since there was no trauma, it shouldn’t be an on going problem. I took several days off and today was my first attempt back at it. I didn’t feel a thing! Great things. Hard things. Don’t forget that you are capable of them, even when it may not feel like it. How many times in your life have you hit a point that you actually thought you couldn’t go on? I know I’ve hit that point in a lot of races. I know I hit that point in labor! And I often hit that point in parenthood. Just this morning, mine and Rhett’s first hour together was nothing but tantrums and screaming and emotions, and I thought to myself, “I’m not going to get through this day.” But of course that wasn’t true. It wasn’t true when I thought I was done running forever at mile 17 of my second marathon when I was 7 weeks pregnant with Rhett, terrified suddenly that I was going to harm him, and my mom tried to convince me to let her pick me up or to walk the rest. It also wasn’t true when I miscarried last year, and I wasn’t sure how to keep going. All this to say—fear is a liar, doubt is a liar, and WE are capable of so much more than we ever think we’ll achieve. Just try, and amaze yourself! . . 2.25 miles outside before dinner— 1 WU, 4x200 fast? w/ 200 recoveries. Then Marcus hadn’t put the @realgoodfoods pizzas in the oven like I swear I asked 🤔 so then 1 more easy TM mile while our delicious mini pizzas cooked [9:05, 7:48, 9:15]

Long run done. Legs felt like lead and I felt like I was traveling at a snails pace but I powered through all 15.5 miles. My training plan called for 13.1 with a goal time of 2:10, then I tagged on an extra two and a half miles to make up for the miles I don’t plan on doing after my 12k race this weekend to get in my second double digit run this week. Now, time to wrap all the Christmas presents I can’t get done with the kids home. . 15.5 miles | 2:34:08 | 9:57 average

Got out for a run with just Gunner today and I don’t think either of us stopped smiling the whole run. My mom came over to help with the kids and the first thing I did was put gunners leash on and get out the door. 2.2 miles at 10:57/mi pace. I was trying to get 3 but it was getting too dark and too cold. I got some very exciting news today and can’t wait to celebrate with my family over wine tonight. 🍾🍷 Cheers, friends! Just remember, when you feel you’re at your lowest point in life its probably the start of something new and something will be right around the corner to get you going again. 💕

Today has been a pretty great day! Took the day off work to go to a physical education professional development that was put on by the Oklahoma State Department pf Education. I thought it’d be a snooze fest, but it was informative and fun! 🙌🏼 I even did a workout while I was there - and it was part of the PD 😁 My legs definitely felt it during my run afterwards.
